Dearly beloved in Christ,
It is a high time for us to love God more than we loved him before. The world is crazy with hate, bitterness, divisions and violence. We have a higher call to love others best. Loving God and others is the greatest commandment. Jesus said:
“And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbour as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.” - – Mark 12:30-31
Loving people is a call for brave people who would go extra mile to bring reconciliation and forgiveness. This would require a graceful approach with the help of God’s Holy Spirit. Before, we reach out to people to establish true and pure love, we need to have a right relationship with God. He will continue to work in us and through us for our good and for His glory. Jesus calls ‘loving one another’ a new commandment. He sets an example of his own love for you and me. He loved us by sacrificing his life on the cross. I am overwhelmed by the extend of his love for his enemies during suffering and pain on the cross. He said, “Father, forgive them, because they don’t know what they are doing.” This is the only way people will know that we are the disciples of Jesus. He gave this new commandment to his disciples and to us prior to his crucifixion:
"A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another." – John 13:34-35
Jesus went ahead to say further from just loving one another. He asked us to love our enemies and to do good to those who hate us. It is easy to say but harder to do!
" But I say to you who hear, Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you…" – Luke 6:27
Well, in our own strength, it is impossible to love our enemies. We can only love one another and our enemies from the love that we receive from God. If we truly claim to be a born-again Christian, then we don’t have any other choice than to love one another and our enemies.
"Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love." 1 John 4:7-8
Beloved, we shouldn’t be surprised when we face unpleasant situation. It happens because we don’t follow the commands of Jesus given to us. May the Holy Spirit continue to fill us with His love and forgiveness to see unity in our church family to move forward to save many souls for Jesus Christ, our Lord.
Blessings with lots of love and prayers,
