Red Rope, Red Cross & the cross of Jesus!

Red Rope, Red Cross and the Cross of Jesus!

The story in the book of Joshua chapter two is about Joshua the

leader of Israelite army sending out two spies for a secret mission. The people of Israel had arrived at their ‘Promise Land’ to possess for their living. They had to conquer the city of Jericho before they could possess the promise land. The secret mission of these two Israelite spies was to get the report about the land. They found the home of Rahab, the prostitute to hide. Rahab showed extreme kindness because she heard about God who had done mighty things among the people of Israel. The mighty works of God included crossing the red sea. When the spies asked how they could thank Rahab for hiding them and saving their lives from the search party of the King to kill them. Rahab requested them to save her and family when they will attack and have conquered the land. Spies promised her to save her and her family if she could display a red rope out of the window of her house and bring all her family in the house. The spies and the people of Israel kept their promise and saved the life of Rahab and her family when they got victory over the city of Jericho.

Rahab’s faith in God and the display of the red rope from her window saved her and her family life.

The Red Cross Society saves life of the soldiers wounded in the war and conflict.

Jesus saves people from their sins and gives them eternal life. As Rahab had faith in God who saved the people of Israel and brought them out from the slavery of Egyptians, so God saves us from sin and Satan through our faith and by the grace (unmerited favour) of our Lord Jesus Christ. Would you believe in Jesus that he died for your sins and rose again to give you eternal life? Today, this very moment, you can give your life by a simple prayer: Lord Jesus Christ, I am sorry for the things I have done wrong in my life. I ask your forgiveness. Thank you for dying on the cross for me free from my sins. Please come into my life and fill me with your Holy Spirit and be with me forever. Thank you Lord Jesus, Amen.
