Possess your promise land!

Working together for our Promise Land (Joshua 1:10-18)

Joshua as the new commander in chief of the people of Israel ordered all the officials to ask all their people to be ready for battle for possessing the promise land. Although our spiritual promise land is heaven, we have many promise lands to possess in our lives as employment, health and salvation of our loved ones. It is important for us to be ready with all the spiritual resources to win our battle. Apostle Paul in the book of Ephesians 6:10-20 talks about the spiritual armour of God so that we prepare to stand and fight against all devil’s schemes. We need to have belt of truth, breastplate of righteousness, shoes of the gospel of peace, shield of faith, helmet of salvation and sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God. But most of all, we should be praying in all occasions in preparation to be ready.

We should make sure that we take everyone along with us to possess the promise land. We shouldn’t rest until everyone has arrived at the promise land. Even though, we might have found our rest and our land already, we should keep the promise to fight the spiritual battle together. No one should be left behind. Just like the tribes of Reubenites, the Gadites and half tribe of Manasseh kept the promise given to Moses (Joshua 1:12-15). They also promised to the new leader Joshua that they will fight with their brothers and sisters till they will also possess the promise land.

Absolute loyalty to God and his godly leaders are the keys to success in possessing our promise land. The above mentioned three tribes of Israel had already possessed their promise land in the fertile land of the east of Jordan. They promised to Joshua that they will obey everything and be loyal to him as long as he will be strong and courageous and stay in close relationship with God. We have our promised land as heaven secured for us because our Captain Jesus who has sacrificed his life on the cross to give us victory over sin and Satan. We are marching towards the promised land with all the heavenly resources given to us through the power of the Holy Spirit. God will fight our battles and give us ultimate victory.
