A young and rich ruler came to Jesus for asking what should he do to inherit eternal life. Jesus asked him if follows all the commandments of God. That is a straight way for making sure you inherit eternal life in heaven. Well, the young man replied that he has been following God's rules right from his childhood. But Jesus knew that no one on earth is able to obey all the commandments of God. Jesus said to him that he lacks one thing in his life. That is he loves his wealth more than God. Jesus encouraged him to give away all his wealth and follow him. It was obvious that this young man loved his wealth. He was sad and left Jesus. John 21:15-19: Earlier Jesus encouraged his disciples to love him – John 15:9,10, “As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. If you obey my commands, you remain in his love. John 15:14, “You are my friends if you do what I command.” John 15:17, “This is my command: Love each other.” Jesus loves you. Peter denied knowing Jesus three times to the people during the time when Jesus was arrested for trial to be crucified.. It’s like saying that a person who is a good friend, you say that I don’t know him. Three times, Jesus asked if he loved him more than these. Jesus demanded Peter’s love three times.
